Remember that scene in Apocalypto, with the blue chicken men?

Yeah, so I'm back with another blog post. Finally. My research has been going well, and this week I decided to look into writings that included themes of sacrifice. It's a lot of them---more than what I would have imagined there could be. There are stories from way back in the day, stories like The Gift of the Magi. You know, the story of when Mickey gave his harmonica up for Minnie's gift? Yeah, that one.

This week's research has been quite intriguing, though. I found that many stories that did involve having to give up--sacrifice-- something had to deal with people who were lovers or had some type of deeper connection with each other. I also so that it was a common theme in religious settings and writings, also. The christian Bible, is basically one big example of that, starting with how Adam and Eve sacrificed their relationship with God just to taste a piece of the forbidden fruit, or how God sacrificed his only son...etc. You get the idea.

I'm enjoying this topic more that I would like to admit, but I'm okay with that. I'll catch you next week with more juicy research I can find! Until then, here's a GIF to match my random headline. (inserts smiley, winky face)
